It all started out as my own
personal notebook when I came to Hurghada. There were
no guidebooks on the market that were
any good. They were either very incomplete, or they
were inaccurate. So over time I improved my sketches
more and more. Then when some friends wanted copies
I began to draw the originals that later became this
book. I thought it would be a good idea to include some text with each map,
which has kept me awake many nights.
The books were not made by a
“professional dive tourist” with only one or two dives at each site. It was made
by someone who has lived and worked for years in the area. Hopefully they'll
help new dive guides and instructors coming to the red sea. The idea behind the
books is:
-
To show a map of the dive site that is as clear as possible. There are no flashy
colour paintings with hammerhead sharks on half of the dive sites, only black
and white maps with depths and a north indicator.
-
To give a description of the reef and the dive, which
is easy to understand and makes the reef seem interesting without exaggeration
or giving silly promises of manta rays.
-
To inspire dive guides to give good dive briefings.
Sample:
The size of the book is A6 like a
normal log book
